Former Canadian PM Kim Campbell Calls Trump a “Motherf**ker”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib sends her regards
Photo by Spencer Platt/GettyFormer Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell made waves over the weekend with a tweet referring to President Donald Trump as a “motherf**ker.” The statement came in response to a Politico tweet in which Trump referred to the proposed border wall as a safety net for federal workers who have gone unpaid during his shutdown.
Reporter: Do you have in mind a safety net for [federal workers] who need their checks?
Trump: The safety net is going to be having a strong border because we’re going to be safe pic.twitter.com/vJ8MzD5EnE

Campbell has since deleted her tweet, but not before it was retweeted upwards of 2,000 times. She now says it was a reference to newly elected Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s use of the expletive last week. In a video that has now gone viral, Tlaib can be seen telling the crowd at an event for MoveOn.org on Thursday night that “we’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherfucker.”

Campbell became Canada’s first-ever female Prime Minister when she was elected Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party in 1993, despite losing the general election just four months later. Already a controversial and outspoken figure, some Canadian outlets were quick to criticize Campbell for her statement. Right-wing tabloid the Toronto Sun even published an editorial saying that Campbell, as a former PM, “isn’t some random Twitter troll.” Trump himself has yet to respond to Campbell the way he did to Tlaib.
