John Oliver on Singapore’s Gambling Problem Problem

Warning: Video contains a fair amount of harsh language, some of which is directed at an unappreciative child.

Having already delivered a brilliant and scathing takedown of FIFA, John Oliver took to the HBO airwaves this past weekend to deliver a pretty hilarious take on Singapore’s anti-gambling initiative. Oliver’s Last Week Tonight lampooned an advertisement, produced by Singapore’s National Council on Problem Gambling, that was intended to curb gambling prior to the start of the 2014 World Cup. Instead, given how things worked out, it may have ended up doing just the opposite. Moreover, given the consistently strong play of Germany (the eventual champions), perhaps betting on the team whenever possible might not be the worst idea.

Last Week Tonight airs Sundays at 11:00pm on HBO in the US and Canada, and on Tuesdays at 10:00pm (GMT) on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
