Facebook Messenger Can Now Access Your Boarding Pass

Travel News Facebook

KLM would like to make your wanderlust relationship official — Facebook official. In recent
months, the Dutch airline has not only connected travelers with “friends” in Amsterdam, but, now, they also just became the first airline to enable airplane check-in and reminders via Facebook Messenger.

KLM Messenger, as it’s called, streamlines the delivery of your boarding passstraight to the app you probably use most: Facebook Messenger.

Using the service is pretty simple. Just book a ticket on KLM and choose “Facebook
Messenger” as your means of contact. From there, your booking confirmation followed by a reminder to check in online and your boarding pass will arrive via Messenger, tucked pleasantly between your group chat with your college bros and that message you drunkenly sent to your ex. Better still, if you have any questions, just contact KLM through Messenger for customer service.

Is it weird that an airline wants to be Facebook friends? Eh, maybe, and it’s a bit odd that KLM not only will have access to more than your flying habits. But any step streamlining the hassle that can be airport check-in—or, for the love of all things Holy, having to talk to a desk agent—seems like a great travel accompaniment. Let’s just hope KLM’s partner in crime, Delta, accepts the Facebook invite.
