HBO has finally thrown Game of Thrones fans a bone with the first promo poster for the forthcoming and much-anticipated seventh season. Unfortunately, the poster gives away about as much as the network has recently—very little, and nothing unexpected. See the full poster in all its icy, fiery glory below.
The poster’s release is ahead of the show’s panel on Sunday at SXSW in Austin, Texas. The panel will feature GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and the popular actors Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark).
The fire in the poster makes us automatically think of dragons, which makes us think of a certain powerful mother of dragons with a ton of powerful ships and even more powerful eyebrows. The ice makes us think of Jon Snow, of course, but also White Walkers and gives us just a general sense of doom. Perhaps the dragons are in for an all-out battle with some frozen zombie wildlings? Or are we getting the righteous Snow/Daenerys alliance we’ve been waiting for? We’ll just have to wait till the summer, and hope that the forthcoming season doesn’t get delayed again.
