Kit Harington Offers Lame (But Endearing) Apology for Lying About Jon Snow’s Fate

Kit Harington plays Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, and between seasons five and six, he was basically forced to lie to people about whether his character had died. Now that the truth was revealed in last night’s episode, Harington has to face the music. In the video above, he issues a sheepish apology that is simultaneously lame—too late now, JON SNOW—but also endearing, because did he really have any other choice?

“I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone,” he begins in his interview with EW, before expressing a certain amount of satisfaction that people cared so much. “I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a … kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.”

Unfortunately, nobody thought to ask him whether Stannis is truly dead. And how could we have trusted him anyway?
