Crackle Releases First Teaser for Snatch TV Reboot
Image via Crackle/YouTubeCrackle has just released the first teaser trailer for their forthcoming show, Snatch. Based off of the 2000 Guy Ritchie film, the show is attempting to weasel its way into the niche created so elegantly by FX’s Fargo, and less elegantly by Fox’s Lethal Weapon.
The teaser contains all of the elements that made the classic film work so well, and uses a lot of the Ritchie aesthetic that made the film stand out from others in the genre. The show stars Rupert Grint and Luke Pasqualino as a couple of boxing promoters who find themselves wrapped up in a deal on the wrong of side of the law. Snappy dialogue, character introductions and thick accents are peppered throughout the teaser, but it falls short of capturing the visceral, gritty feel of a heist that could go wrong and result in being fed to pigs at any moment, which is a shame.
So hopefully this show will be faithful to the original content, but also tell its own story. Noah Hawley made it happen with Fargo, and there’s not much to say that it couldn’t happen again. It’s still early yet, but it’s hard to be optimistic when the source material is so pitch-perfect. If you haven’t seen it, make to sure check out the original film on Hulu or Crackle.
Snatch will stream exclusively on Crackle on March 16, for free. Watch the teaser above.
