The Witcher Recruits Killing Eve's Kim Bodnia

Danish actor Kim Bodnia has been tossed some coin to star in Netflix’s The Witcher as Vesemir, a character whom fans of the novels or videogames will recognize. The oldest and most experienced witcher at Kaer Morhen, the witcher’s training grounds and keep, Vesemir is a sort of father figure to Geralt (Henry Cavill) with his own intricate backstory and set of subplots. He’ll be a welcome addition to the cast of key figures in the greater lore of the Witcher universe introduced in The Witcher’s second season, including Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as rude witcher Lambert, Mecia Simson as elf queen Francesca, and Kristofer Hivju as the cursed Nivellen.

Known for his role in Killing Eve as Konstantin, Villanelle’s handler, Bodnia also starred in the popular Danish-Swedish FX crime drama The Bridge. “I am so thrilled to welcome Kim Bodnia to the cast of The Witcher,” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. “I have admired his unique talents in shows like Killing Eve and The Bridge, and cannot wait for him to bring strength, tenacity and warmth to the character of Vesemir, who is such an integral part of our upcoming season.” Given Vesemir’s role in the games and novels, we can expect to see a lot of him, given he has notable roles in several plot lines.
