Bernie Sanders Condemns Media, Attacks Trump’s Tweets on Conan

Bernie Sanders has been one of the more vocal politicians in the weeks since the election, and he’s not holding back on our president-elect. The former presidential candidate was on Conan last night, and he took some time to condemn the media’s coverage of Trump, as well as to go after Trump’s tweets.

“What democracy is about is placing the important issues on the table and discussing them,” said Sanders. “What media loved was the fact that Trump would say one absurd thing after another, ugly things about people we’ve never heard before from a presidential candidate. You know what? That was great TV. CNN’s ratings went way up. I think the American people have to demand more out of media.”

Conan also brought up Trump’s recent tweets suggesting that millions voted illegally. “First of all, it’s delusional. It’s totally insane, nobody believes that who studies elections or election patterns,” Sanders said. “When he says that, he’s really sending a signal to Republicans all over this country, Republican leaders, and what he’s saying is, ‘We’ve got to suppress the vote. We have got to make it harder for poor people, people of color, immigrants, elderly people to vote because they may vote against us.’ And that’s scary stuff.”

Sanders has been clear about his vision for the Democratic Party in the days since the election, and he’s promoted those beliefs far and wide. Check out his discussion of the media above, and watch him attack Trump’s tweets about flag burning below.
