How To Make The Wine Popsicles Your Picnic Deserves

It’s officially summer, which means it’s time for the beach, and more importantly, ice cream. During the warmer months I’m a huge picnic fan, and like to head outside whenever possible, be it a cookout, outdoor concert, or just a great old-school picnic.

Last summer, I picked up a popsicle mold and started making homemade treats to bring along with me on some of those occasions. They were, without fail, always a huge hit. The only thing better than a great homemade popsicle however, is a great homemade popsicle that also has some booze in it.

Making boozy popsicles isn’t as easy as it looks. Alcohol isn’t going to freeze like juice and other things you might use to make your own popsicle. One thing that will freeze however, is wine.

Italian winemaker Santa Margherita shared this epic recipe for winesicles which just requires a bottle of prosecco and some edible flowers. If you don’t have flowers on hand, we’d recommend throwing in a tiny bit of fruit (blueberries of chopped up strawberries, anyone?) to give these an extra kick.

Ingredients:
Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore DOCG
Edible Flowers

Instructions:
Place 3-5 edible flowers in each popsicle mold. Fill popsicle molds with Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore. Freeze 4-6 hours, or until completely solid. Once frozen, remove from mold and garnish popsicle stick with ribbon.
