Alan Vega’s First Posthumous Record IT Gets Release Date, Lead Single

The first single from Suicide’s late lead singer Alan Vega’s posthumous record has been released, as well as a release date for the album itself. “DTM”—short for “Dead to Me”—is a classic Vega track, never wavering from its electronic-punk roots.

IT contains nine tracks that Vega co-wrote and co-recorded with his wife Liz Lamere, and is set to release on July 14, around the anniversary of his passing. He saw the record as his “final statement” when he was creating it; its release will be accompanied by a series of events in New York City deemed “Alan Vega Week” that will showcase Vega’s art and also have a tribute performance.

“Alan’s life force was so strong because he believed in his vision and purpose,” said Lamere in a statement. “He understood we can’t control much of what happens to us, or in our world, but we have free will and the power to go on and stand for what we believe in.”

Vega’s fans can obtain a special vinyl LP here, which will have a 2-LP gatefold adorned with unpublished drawings, writings and photos by Vega himself. Another special limited release transparent orange vinyl will be available at select indie record stores, the locations of which have yet to be announced.

IT marks Vega’s eleventh solo record and is available for preorder here. You can also stream “DTM” below (or on Spotify here) and find the IT tracklist and album art further down.
