Description

Islands was inspired by the influence of climate change on our world. Themes of hopelessness and sadness are touched on through the use of 'mournful' ambient synths, while ethereal, distant vocals hint at the inevitable displacement of island communities. While there is so much that could be written about this subject, part of my intention of writing the EP was to allow the music to speak for itself, bringing to life emotion through soundscapes, harmonic progressions, and irregularities within the music itself. One example of this irregularity, particularly noticeable through the first two tracks (Frozen Hope & Particles), is the the slow rise in tone of many of the ambient drones, creating a subtle feeling of tension and urgency.

Many thanks for listening!
