Turn up the sound, and roll the windows down.
Jake Schlegel’s debut EP East City Lights brings us the longing of summer nights and the bombshell blue sky of the prairie. Hope, identity, belonging and the constant ache of faith permeate his music, inviting us to wander and arrive home all at once.
Born on bred on the folk music and folk wisdom of the Midwest, Jake’s journey shaped deeply the heart this music poured from.
What emerges is a pure Americana style—gritty yet melodic, ringing with the influence of Springsteen, Browne, Petty and other masters. His lyrics evoke the open highway and the warm light of home, delivered in an easy, confident voice. Jake loves what he’s doing, and this is his gift to you.
Jake and his wife Emily live in Indianapolis, and the album is a tribute to city’s eastside, which they are proud to call home.
