When it came to naming this album, ‘Alone’ just seemed fitting despite the many other albums of the same name. Alone, the third release by Larry Lacerte, refers to the way the album was recorded- a solo effort live from the living room featuring acoustic guitar and vocals. Going it alone is a theme explored on the album framing loneliness and struggles in life and love against another view of going solo highlighted in the title track. ‘Alone’ shows these challenges in a different light contrasting lonely lows with the escape, freedom and discovery of getting out on the road. This album showcases Larry’s bluesy side especially with the lead off track Love Me Wrong and Suit and Noose, a song about a strong aversion to wearing a suit and tie. There is also a mellow side on display with the flamenco flavored Same Old Story and Fools Gold, a song about a fond childhood memory.
