The Wooden Birds

For fans of:Neil Young, Bon Iver, Death Cab For Cutie, Iron & Wine, American Analog Set
Andrew Kenny, the driving force behind American Analog Set, began working on a new side project, The Wooden Birds, after pulling up stakes and moving back to his native Texas in 2008. Sounding something like a rustic, Neil Young-influenced spin on Kenny’s previous work, The Wooden Birds nodded to likeminded acts like Bon Iver and Iron & Wine. They just recently released their sophomore effort, Two Matchsticks, on June 7th via Barsuk Records. The album also features The Wooden Birds members Leslie Sisson and Matt Pond (Matt Pond PA) as well as special guests like Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie and members of Ola Podrida. With all of the heat, fire, and light imagery that show up in the lyrics, Two Matchsticks will soothe the soul and brighten the corners of your life – it is a warm album for cold times. The Wooden Birds will be touring throughout 2011 showcasing new tracks as well as favorites from their critically acclaimed debut album, Magnolia.
