5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Upgrade to the iPhone 7

There are plenty of fantastic reasons to upgrade to the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. For starters, there’s the new camera features, the upgraded storage options, and the water resistant body. The iPhone 7 Plus with its dual-camera lens, has even more reasons to go in for an upgrade.

However, the iPhone 7 isn’t exactly going to be a must-buy for everyone. Here are five situations and reasons you may want to hold off on upgrading to the new iPhone:

1. If you really hate the idea of losing your headphone jack

Apple has done a lot of things right in its attempts to transition to a headphone jack-less world. It comes with a pair of free Lightning headphones, as well as a headphone jack dongle. However, for some people that just won’t be enough. We’ll have to wait and see, but there may even be some Android refugees in the next couple of years.

2. If you are “upgrading” to an iPhone SE

When a lot of people bought their iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s, the option for the smaller iPhone SE wasn’t yet on the table. The 4.0-inch iPhone has the power and brains of the iPhone 6s in a smaller body that a lot of people have been clamoring for since Apple went big with the iPhone. Unlike the iPhone 5c, the iPhone SE is actually a great smartphone that doesn’t compromise any features or specs anything for the smaller size.

3. If you have an iPhone 6s

There are plenty of buyers who upgrade their iPhones every year, especially thanks to Apple’s trade-in program. However, if you are on a traditional two-year contract or only upgrade when you’re really sold, moving up to an iPhone 7 just might not be worth it. The iPhone 7 looks nearly identical to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s (outside of the new color options and missing headphone jack), and doesn’t exactly have a single standout feature.

4. If you are waiting for the 10th Anniversary iPhone

If rumors (which have been spot on these days) are to be trusted, next year’s 10th Anniversary iPhone is going to be a massive overhaul to the design and functionality of the smartphone. So what are these big features that you should be holding out for? Everything from an edge-to-edge OLED display to the Iris scanner—and even a missing home button! If all that sounds more interesting than the iPhone 7, you may want to hold off until next Fall.

5. Because Android keeps getting better and better

It might be obvious to say, but with phones like the OnePlus 3, the Nexus 6P, and the Galaxy Note 7, there are plenty of reasons to stick with your Android phone of choice. Whether it’s for a great camera or the more customizable software, keeping your Android phone or even converting over to Android is more advisable today than ever before.
