Aesop Rock Transforms into a Puppet, Co-Stars with Kitten in Delightful “Kirby” Video

Following the release of The Impossible Kid in April, Aesop Rock has released a music video for album cut “Kirby.” It was created by Toben Seymour, a director based in Venice, Calif. who specializes in puppetry for film. He has previously produced music videos for Islands, Herman Düne, Moby and more.

In the visual, Aesop Rock is transformed into a puppet version of himself and lounges at home with a real-life rescue cat named Dina. The song is an ode to Aesop’s own pet, “Kirby,” whom the rapper acquired after a shrink told him, “I don’t know, maybe get a kitten.”

The video description reads:

Kirby played here by Dina, who was rescued from the streets of downtown Los Angeles, and has since been adopted and found a forever home. To help a cat in your area, please consider donating to (or adopting from) your local animal shelter, or visiting The Animal Humane Society.
