Joy Caroline Mills is a songwriter, producer, recording engineer, guitarist, singer, & multi-instrumentalist currently residing in Indianapolis. Aside from her solo music, she primarily plays lead guitar for the shoegaze/indie rock outfit Karate, Guns & Tanning. The band is already making waves across the world. KGT has been featured on CVLTNation, Bandcamp, Sirius XMU, AnalogueTrash, The Nation Rock Radio, LOUD WOMEN, WhiteLight/WhiteHeat, Niche Music, WQRT, WFYI (NPR) and more. The band is also in rotation on KEXP in Seattle. Additionally, some of her solo career highlights include a TV appearance on FOX59, a WFYI Small Studio Session, and radio placements on KUBE Radio, WZPL, WTTS & WQRT, to name a few. She also co-hosts an arts/music/culture podcast with Valerie Green dubbed Indy Propaganda. The duo have a monthly radio show on WQRT FM in Indianapolis to support Musical Family Tree—an initiative where Mills also serves on their curation committee. Mills has a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Music Media Production & Industry. Her primary focus was in songwriting and classical guitar. When Joy is not performing or recording, she works full time in technical theatre (lights, sound, projection, audio).
