With This Trump-Themed Christmas Song Parody, the Resistance Has Reached New Levels of Sheer Embarrassment

It’s no secret that Paste Politics comes at things from a progressive angle, which puts us in direct and obvious opposition to Donald Trump and the Republican party. But it should also be noted, again and again, that we think establishment Democrats, centrist liberals, and the so-called “Resistance” social media grifters who bamboozle them are the absolute pits too. They are, in fact, sometimes more aggravating—take Claire McCaskill, for instance, who responded to her loss in the Missouri Senate race by attacking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and has spent her final days in D.C. advocating for the same decades-long losing strategies that has left the party gutted. Or take Louise Mensch and Claude Taylor, who capitalized on the New Red Scare to bluff their way into positions of prominence (and profit) on social media. Or take the legions of Neera Tanden think-tank types who have already begun beating the drum for Beto O’Rourke because real progressive politics scare the bejeezus out of them. In many cases, as we saw with Elizabeth Warren, you can actually spot the moment when someone good adopts the idiotic mindset of the libs and begins to self-own.
Anyway, they’re all terrible, and that’s enough self-linking from me. The purpose of this post is to ruin your day, and probably the rest of your 2018, with a Christmas song parody performed by a collection of “Resistance” figures who channeled their Robert Mueller obsession in the most embarrassing, excruciating way. Just watch:

I’ll be honest: I don’t know many of these people. The exception is Scott Dworkin, who our own Jake Weindling correctly identified as an opportunistic con artist back in March 2017. He tweets things like this, while wanting to be taken seriously:

Otherwise, this seems to be the Resistance B-Team, but you can tell by the Twitter bio for the “Democratic Coalition” exactly what they’re about:

All I can say is that if Robert Mueller himself ever saw this “song” “parody,” I like to think he’d be even more embarrassed than the rest of us, just by association. I’m going to go curl up in a ball and die now, but before I do, here are a few Twitter reactions as a much-needed chaser:
