Meet Mahan, the Turncoat Member of the Hell’s Half-Dozen From Reaver

Pitched as a “dark, grim fantasy for a post-Game of Thrones world,” Reaver finds Luther Strode writer Justin Jordan and former Buffy the Vampire Slayer artist Rebekah Isaacs leaning into the genre’s bloodier side. Settlers discovered the new continent of Madaras 200 years ago, and war still wages on for its control centuries later. As a mysterious threat starts to build within the heart of this untamed land, the imperials assemble a Hell’s half-dozen of their most dangerous prisoners—a turncoat, a skin eater, a sorcerer and his bodyguard, a serial killer and the Devil’s Son—to prevent the end of this new world. Featuring stunning covers by Becky Cloonan, Reaver launches July 10th from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, and Paste has a special treat for readers: an interview with one of Reaver’ deadly stars, the turncoat Mahan. Check that out below, along with a look at Isaacs’ interior art.

MAHANheadshot.pngPaste: What do you regret most?
Mahan: Right now, agreeing to talk to you.

Paste: Are you more afraid to die or to kill?
Mahan: Is that meant to be a joke? I’m not afraid of either. But I would prefer neither. But since when do I get what I want?

Paste: What traits do you admire in your fellow prisoners?
Mahan: I suspect Rekala is probably only mildly evil, which is the best I can say of any of them.
