Criterion Announces New Streaming Service, The Criterion Channel

Those who are still mourning Filmstruck may find solace in the fact that the beloved service is returning in another form. The Criterion Collection has announced the launch of its new streaming service, the Criterion Channel. The service officially debuts in the U.S. and Canada on April 8.

The Criterion Channel will feature a constantly refreshed slate of Hollywood, international, arthouse and independent films, along with Criterion’s own catalog of over 1,000 important films from around the world. It will also provide access to Criterion Channel exclusive programming, including the new Sunday Spotlight, a movie marathon highlighting a different director, genre, star or theme each week.

Charter Subscribers who sign up before the official April 8 launch will receive an extended 30-day free trial after launch, as well as reduced pricing for the duration of their subscription. Early subscribers will also have access to an exclusive Movie of the Week every Wednesday until launch, the first one being the Criterion edition of Elaine May’s Mikey and Nicky.

The Criterion Channel will be available on desktop, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, iOS and Android devices. Check out the Criterion Channel’s website to learn more.
