You Could Get Paid $1,300 to Watch 13 Stephen King Movies This October

If you’re anything like us, you already spend the vast majority of October on the couch watching horror movies. In the course of those viewings, you’re bound to come across some Stephen King adaptations—why not get PAID to enjoy the greatest time of the year? USDish.com was apparently thinking the same, as they’re offering an opportunity for one horror fan to get paid $1,300 to watch 13 Stephen King adaptations during the month of October. Fans can apply for the opportunity online, with a deadline of Oct. 15. I guess that means you’ll have to watch close to a film per day?

Here’s what USDish has to say about the “ideal candidate” for this particular assignment.

Movie buff? Scaredy cat? Adrenaline junkie? All of the above? This job is not for the faint of heart, but it could be for you. The ideal candidate has to be detail-oriented enough to track their experience. They could even share their scares on social media and vlog every time they jump out of their seats. No degree is necessary, nor will a drug test or background check be performed; however, applicants must be 18 years or older and a US citizen or permanent resident to apply. Tell us why you’re the perfect victim and what you hope to gain from this experience (aside from the $1,300, of course), and this dream—or nightmare—job could be yours!

The company has chosen the films for this particular assignment, meaning that you won’t get to self-select lesser-known King stories like Graveyard Shift or The Night Flier, much as you might like to. The film list is as follows.

Carrie (original or 2013 remake)
Children of the Corn
Christine
Creepshow
Cujo
Dreamcatcher
It (original or 2017 remake)
The Mist
Pet Sematary (original or 2019 remake)
Salem’s Lot
The Shining
Thinner
Misery

Considering that we’re already in the middle of naming the best horror film of every year from 1920-2019, we’d be happy to volunteer for this kind of duty ourselves, but somehow we get the feeling that USDish intends the applicant to be more “average Joe” than the horror hounds at Paste. Still, go ahead and apply before Oct. 15 if you’d like to earn a cool $1,300 for making October into a Stephen King movie marathon.
