Twitter Gets Overly Excited About Star Wars Spin-Off Trailer, Unwittingly Trends ‘Rouge One’
Image via YoutubeYesterday Disney released the first teaser for the upcoming Star Wars spin-off, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and, of course, the internet lost its collective mind.
It seems, though, that folks got so intensely jazzed about Rogue One that they couldn’t physically control their Twitter fingers. That’s right: when everyone took to social media to expound on their varying levels of elation, their fingers moved too quickly to spell the film’s title correctly. Either that or we have a massive illiteracy problem on our hands.
So while #RogueOne was busy trending, so was #RougeOne. And it wasn’t just casual fans who were spelling it incorrectly:
ME: “I love you”
ROUGE ONE TRAILER: “I know”

What was even better than the misspelling trending? People watching and commenting on other people using the incorrect hashtag.
Disney’s next spinoff: Mulan Rouge One, in which an Asian warrior courtesan schemes to steal the manuscript of a lovestruck Scottish poet.
