“Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli Lists One-of-a-Kind Wu-Tang Album on eBay

If you’re into Wu-Tang Clan and have millions of dollars that you’re really itching to spend, look no further: Former pharmaceutical executive and current convicted felon Martin Shkreli is selling his one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan record Once Upon A Time in Shaolin. The album was notoriously pressed for only one limited-edition version as part of a marketing gimmick.

Shkreli bought the album for $2 million in late 2015, and since he posted the eBay listing, the bidding has climbed to the point that he will be able to at least break even on it. The ad includes a picture of himself holding the album, along with a ransom note dated Sept. 5 that reads, “Selling WTC album.”

In the description, Shkreli detailed his purpose for purchasing the album in the first place, citing his serious appreciation for music, and cautioned that he may cancel the sale at anytime and “may even break this album in frustration.” He also explained that half the proceeds of the sale will go to medical research and mentioned that he has “not carefully listened to the album.” Check out the eBay listing here.

Shkreli first made headlines when, as the head of Turing Pharmaceuticals, he raised the price of a live-saving drug for people with AIDS by 5,000 percent, from $13.50 to $700 per pill, earning him the title of “the most hated man in America.” Earlier this year, he was convicted of securities fraud for his role in managing hedge funds. He has yet to be sentenced but could spend up to 20 years in prison, a place where a rare Wu-Tang Clan album would be of no use to him.
