Mix a pinch of Bird Box and a dash of Children of Men into a warmed-over bowl of Game of Thrones, and you’ll have concocted something a lot like See, Apple TV+’s “epic world-building drama” starring Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) and Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage). The post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy series, set in a future world where humankind has been rendered blind, received its first official trailer on Tuesday, which at least provides further evidence that Apple TV+ exists and is not an extremely elaborate prank.
See’s synopsis explains the epic’s premise:
See takes place in the distant future, after a deadly virus decimated humankind. Those who survived, emerged blind. Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss—the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see—who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who wants the twins destroyed.
Oscar nominee Woodard plays Paris, Baba Voss’ spiritual leader, while Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) plays Queen Kane, the ruler who opposes Baba Voss and his tribe. Yadira Guevara-Prip (Star Trek: Discovery), Nesta Cooper (Travelers), Archie Madekwe (Midsommar), Christian Camargo (Wormwood), Hera Hilmar (Mortal Engines) and Marilee Talkington (In the Dark) round out the series’ international cast. As Apple notes, See “features cast and crew who are blind or have low vision, who helped bring this inclusive and authentic world to life.”
